He makes his intentions seem pure and positive even when they are rooted in evil and, according to Steadman, this is the chief reason that readers often mistake Satan as paradiul hero. Milton is frankly a badass who decided to write about a controversial subject using a style that many would probably found offensive and along the way paradsiul decided to insult many beloved authors and poets at the time by basically saying in the beginning of PL “I’m not going to bother trying to make a rhyme scheme because that’s pidrdut what authors do when they want people to be impressed with their work without actually trying to be a good writer.
He’s snarky, and almost juvenile in the face of his retaliation, and goes through a psychological fall that is as, if not more so, traumatizing as the physical one.
Marked by Milton’s characteristic erudition, Paradise Lost is a work epic both in scale and, notoriously, in ambition. Una cosa sospetta, irragionevole.
