And, at one point I thought I might find something else to read instead, but I powered through the bogged-down middle and made it to the good stuff near the end. However, I was utterly disappointed by the choppy plot, unlikable characters, and overall angst-filled mood.
The hero prays to God for the strength to rape the heroine though he does not actually assault her. Somewhat not believable in places, but a decent story. But when he finds Rhiannon, she pleads for him to stretch his kisses into making love to her A hard, dark, old fashioned romance with a reluctant lassie and a dominant, jaded antihero who grows up in a snake’s den he’s got issues. But Fia Merrick gives her heart to no one, for love is a weakness she cannot afford. It was a very quick read.
Turns out I love me some angst! Thank goodness after a long while of reading books with either stupid heroine and annoying hero I found a book that I appreciate both the hero and heroine and the story that doesn’t go around the circle and full of unnecessary quarrels The introduction to the Merricks, two brothers and a sister, children of a vain, selfish and manipulative father, and Ash’s, the eldest son’s story.
It did not pull me in as other books have. He came to woo the clan but ended up winning the laird’s cousin, Janet. I never expect to like it tremendously and I totally love both the hero and heroine Actually, I’m not sure if he’s the blacksmith – whatever – he’s the local rich guy. The whole story is quite interesting although the first few chapters we’re dull personal opinion only nevertheless it connoe a love hate relationship between Ash Merrick and Rhiannon Russels. But difficult circumstances and dangerous conditions bring them together as they get to know one another quite well, all the while avoiding many hurdles before they understand how the past damaged them and how they could achieve their much-deserved happy-ever-after ending. I thought it was tacky, really.
There is a story that Rayne raped a young novice who was about to take her vows as a nun. I think one of the biggest problems is that I just couldn’t like any of the main clnnie. I will still read Connie Brockway but I will skip the series, I guess. Praise Award winning author of The Reckless One. The way these books work is: Good storyline, characters, and fluff sections.

Brockway knows how to build romantic tension and release it in a fulfilling passion between her hero and heroine. In addition, I like the character of Kay, Fia’s stepson.
Once she would have given her soul to Thomas McClairen, until he shattered her innocent dreams. The two main characters don’t really care for one another, which seems to be typical of Connie Brockway, based on a couple of others I’ve read.
No trivia or quizzes yet. The main character, Ash, is very troubled and rather dark, but I couldn’t help but like him.
I was blown away by this Scottish historical romance. June 17, Publication Date: Connie Brockway wrote about the “origins” of the 3 brothers and sister and the backdrop of the series.
It’s never made clear to us whether Philip is gay or not; perhaps Philip, himself, doesn’t know. Don’t brockwat if I’m in a reading slump or what The tension or the suspense just was not present. Who has been trying to murder Rhiannon?

Soon enough she jettisoned the idea of writing serious literature for what she considered and still considers the best gig in the world, writing romance.
The author told this story with wit, passion and hunger.
This is his story, He was a notorious rogue with a reputation for hell-raising and heartbreaking. I liked how more of a strong personality appeared near the end of the book, especially as she dealt with Fia and Lord Carr. He has cause to hate her father, but he directs that hatred to his children instead.
